Fighting food insecurity and food loss in Montreal
ABOUT US
We are a group of six students at McGill University aiming to alleviate food insecurity in our community. As part of the Integrated Management Student Fellowship, we have developed and implemented an initiative that connects food suppliers with a surplus of food to community food organizations that distribute meals and/or food items to those in need.
Our goal: Bridging the gap between excess supply and increased demand, so that people have access to the food that they want and need.
Our Impact
581 kg food rescued
1065 meals provided*
1104 kgCO2 diverted from landfill

OUR PROCESS
We provide the necessary support to existing infrastructure without increasing their resource burden. We are a platform that connects our partnered suppliers that have excess food (grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, wholesalers, and farmers) with community partner organizations that combat food insecurity (food banks, soup kitchens, and other services). We accomplish this by recruiting volunteer drivers to transport the food on a timely basis.
We offer impact summaries from our deliveries that are tailored to your individual business and the impact you have made by participating in our initiative. The shared data includes how much food was rescued (in weight), how many meals your contribution provided, and how much CO2 emissions were diverted from food decomposing in landfills.
